What is Emerge: Simply stated, Emerge is "Business 101: How to Start a New Business". Some of the areas featured in this program include: Legal Entities & Business Law, Human Resources, Business Insurance, Marketing/Branding, Accounting, Taxes, Zoning, Ordinances, Commercial Real Estate, Sales Training and Non-Profit Management. The Emerge entrepreneurship program provides local entrepreneurs and business startups, with direction and support to walk through the complex steps required to start a successful business. The Emerge program was created to help new and future business owners do the careful planning required to minimize the risk of launching a new enterprise. Participants receive hands on experiences as they learn core entrepreneurial/business skills, which will help them take a business idea from the early stages, to a business ready to launch.
The Visalia Chamber of Commerce’s Emerge program provides introductory business classes to new and future business owners. Through this six-month program, participants build a strong network, improve business skills through writing a business plan, meet and learn from business experts from nine different industries, and work with a business mentor throughout the program.
Ideal Emerge participants are:
1. Individuals who have a business idea and want to start a brand new business but don’t know where or how to start the process.
2. Individuals who currently own or operate a small business and want to take the next steps to help their business grow, or want to make sure that they have not missed any critical steps during their start up process.
Time Commitment: The Emerge program is a six month program which meets twice a month on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 - 8:30 pm. Classes will begin July 17 and end on December 11.
Tuition: Tuition for Emerge is $350 which includes all program materials, small business resource guide, 12 classes and a business mentor and access to industry experts.
